Liverpool have reportedly registered their interest in Athletic Bilbao midfielder Oihan Sancet, who has also emerged as a target for Chelsea in recent weeks.

The 22-year-old has been one of the best players for Ernesto Valverde's side this campaign and his stellar form has caught the attention of the elite clubs in Europe. Apart from Liverpool and Chelsea, Borussia Dortmund, Barcelona, Newcastle United and Real Madrid have all been named as admirers of the attacking midfielder.

Sancet has been a key player for Ernesto Valverde's team this season having already registered seven goals in 20 La Liga appearances so far. The flamboyant midfielder the first player to score a hat-trick in the 2022/23 La Liga season as he bagged three goals in Athletic Bilbao's 4-1 win over Cadiz on Friday. He has made a total of 101 appearances for his boyhood club till date while scoring 16 goals and producing seven assists.

Sancet is a very versatile midfielder who can play in various positions such as central-midfield and in a more advanced role. He is technically gifted and has an excellent range of passing. He is also a brilliant ball carrier and thanks to his frame of 6 ft 2 in, he is physically quite adept as well. Such a unique profile makes him highly regarded in world football and he could be a solid addition to Liverpool given their midfield struggles this campaign.

The trio of Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and James Milner are all in the final months of their contracts at Anfield and could all be moved. Jordan Henderson and Fabinho have also regressed massively this season while Curtis Jones is far from first-team material. Thiago Alcantara is also in his thirties and does not have the legs to play week in week out in Klopp's system.

Sancet could be a solid addition to Liverpool thanks to his unique profile. Also, due to the fact that he is out of contract at the San Mamés next year, he could be available at a reasonable price this summer. If available for a decent price, Sancet could prove to be a solid addition to Klopp's midfield which looks in dire need of reinforcements.
