Liverpool Beat Crystal Palace 3-1 As Isak And Wirtz Shine In Slots Team

Liverpool extended a growing Premier League surge with a 3-1 win over Crystal Palace at Anfield, securing a third straight league victory. Alexander Isak and Andrew Robertson struck before half-time, while Florian Wirtz finished the contest in added time. Daniel Munoz had briefly revived Palace hopes after a controversial phase, during a match where the visitors created several strong chances.

The scoreline did not fully reflect Palace’s attacking threat. The visitors attempted 13 shots to Liverpool’s nine, and produced seven efforts on target against three. Their non-penalty expected goals figure reached 2.32. That is the highest for any visiting side at Anfield in all competitions this season, and the largest since Arsenal recorded 2.58 in May last season.

The key moments arrived in a frantic first half. Liverpool thought Mohamed Salah had won a penalty, but the decision was overturned after review. Soon after, Isak controlled a fierce drive from Alexis Mac Allister, then bounced a low finish past Dean Henderson to open the scoring and shift the tempo in Liverpool’s favour.

Isak’s impact came after a difficult season disrupted by injury. The forward had broken a leg in December and missed almost four months. All three of Isak’s Premier League goals for Liverpool have been opening goals. Since 2022-23, only Erling Haaland with 37 and Ollie Watkins with 21 have scored more opening goals than Isak’s 19.

Freddie Woodman played a central part in the second goal. Deputising for injured goalkeepers Alisson and Giorgi Mamardashvili, the third-choice Liverpool goalkeeper made five saves. One crucial stop from Jean-Philippe Mateta started a rapid counter-attack, which ended with Robertson finishing calmly from a precise throughball by Curtis Jones on the left side.

The timing of that move underlined Liverpool’s speed on transition. Only 15 seconds separated Woodman’s save at 39:33 from Robertson’s goal at 39:48. It was Liverpool’s first Premier League goal from a fast break since the match against Newcastle United in January, reflecting a familiar pattern of swift attacks from deep positions.

Palace dragged themselves back into the contest after half-time in disputed circumstances. Woodman had just denied Ismaila Sarr in a one-on-one, but stayed down injured following the challenge. Play continued, and Munoz lifted the loose ball into an empty net. Liverpool players complained, yet the goal stood, giving Palace renewed belief as the match entered a tense phase.

That setback appeared to unsettle Liverpool for a spell. With momentum shifting, Palace pressed high and created further opportunities, forcing more work from Woodman and straining a defence missing first-choice options. The visitors pushed strongly for an equaliser, sending numbers forward and stretching play across both flanks while the home crowd grew anxious.

Liverpool finally eased those nerves in the closing seconds. Deep into second-half stoppage time, Wirtz met a loose ball at the edge of the area and sliced a half-volley into the top-left corner. The clinical strike confirmed all three points, ensured the earlier controversy did not change the outcome, and kept Liverpool’s Premier League winning run intact.
