Liverpool's bid for Roma keeper Alisson rejected

Jurgen Klopp's hunt for a new shot shot-stopper continues as Roma will hold out for an offer of around £44million if they do sell, according to Italian outlet II Tempo.

Bengaluru, January 29: Serie A giants Roma have reportedly rejected a bid from Liverpool for Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson Becker.

The Serie A side are keen to hold onto the 25-year-old until the summer as Jurgen Klopp's hunt for a new shot shot-stopper continues and the Italians will hold out for an offer of around £44million if they do sell, according to Italian outlet II Tempo.

Despite claiming that he is 'not likely' to make more signings in January, Klopp is eager to add a new goalkeeper to his squad this month.

The German boss has been forced to continually rotate his goalkeepers throughout the season after ongoing criticism.

Simon Mignolet has been inconsistent and Loris Karius was once again demoted to the bench in the FA Cup after a number of questionable performances.

Liverpool's target Becker is in no rush to leave the Stadio Olimpico before the transfer window slams shut on Wednesday.

He told Sky Italia: "I am happy in Rome.

"It's always a pleasure to feel that lots of people are monitoring you but my head is focused on Roma.

"I leave my future in the hands of God.

"In June, maybe we will speak about it again but for now I am concentrated on Roma.

"Together with my teammates, we have done a great job to not allow the loss of Wojciech Szczesny to be felt by fans.

"I have worked very hard and want to continue along that track."

Alisson is right now the first-choice of Brazil ahead of in-form Manchester City keeper Ederson Moraes and to keep his status as the number one, he must keep up his stunning form and a transfer to a new League just six months before the World Cup could be a risky move for him.

Also, why would Roma want to lose their first-choice keeper now in the middle of the season?
