London, Feb 27: Liverpool star ace Sadio mane has backed his side for a top-four spot this season as he stated his team is confident to end the season on a high.
Mane grabbed one and Liverpool scored four in the last weekend against West Ham to reach the second spot ahead of Manchester United until the Red Devil's win the following day against Chelsea which again dropped them back to third with a two points gap.
However, the former Southampton player suggested that although this term it is impossible to catch the leaders Manchester City who are 15 points ahead with one game in hand but his team is very much capable of regaining the second spot behind them with 10 games in hand.
"Of course we can stay there," the Senegal international told reporters.
"We have got a great team. This is football and anything can happen.
"We have a goal to speak about and, as a team, we are going to do our best. We will try to win -- and why can't we win all the remaining games?
"Second is one of our targets. Honestly, Manchester City are too far ahead and it will be difficult to catch them, but it is still possible to be second and we are going to do our best to get it."
Liverpool are currently piling their trade only two competitions, Premier League and Champions League and realistically only in the European Competition, they have the chance to grab the silverware.
In their last match against Portuguese leaders Porto, the Kops fired five goals past them and now Mane has reckoned with momentum on their hand, they will try their best to proceed as far possible in the competition.
When asked whether they could win the Champions league, Mane said: "We are going to try to do our best."
Liverpool will host Newcastle United to Anfield for their next Premier League match in the coming weekend, before visiting United in a high voltage match on March 10. They will play the Champions League return leg against Porto in between these two fixtures on 7th March.
