Liverpool is now Chelsea's big title rivals: Lampard

By Staff

London, Oct 21 : England midfielder Frank Lampard believes that Phil Scolari's men have proved they "mean business" with their scintillating start to the season.

Chelsea is even winning friends after adding attacking flair to their renowned steel.

Lampard, in the form of his life for club and country, is relishing the title battle, which will really come to the boil on Sunday when Liverpool visit Stamford Bridge.

He said: "Everyone knows we mean business. Performances and results like our win against Middlesbrough will show that. But everyone means business. In fact Liverpool are getting results week-in week-out like they have not done in the past few years so they will be a big threat. Manchester United is coming strong and Arsenal play great football."

Everyone is trying to send out messages. But we are the ones at the top and just want to stay there, the Mirror reported.

"It is difficult to say if this is our strongest squad yet because it is early season. We had a strong squad the first season we won the league and hopefully this is as good and we can go and have as much success as we had then," he added.

Chelsea face Roma in the Champions League tomorrow with injury problems meaning Scolari is digging deep into his squad again.

Petr Cech is to hand Chelsea a boost by declaring himself fit to face Roma. The Czech keeper had picked up a thigh injury on international duty last week.
