
Liverpool, December 7: Philippe Coutinho struck his first Liverpool hat-trick as the five-time champions crushed Spartak Moscow 7-0 to move into the knockout stages of Champions league as Group E winners.
They were joined in the last 16 by Sevilla, Shakhtar Donetsk and Porto on the final matchday of the group stage.
Coutinho was joined on the scoresheet by a brace from Sadio Mande and singles from Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah at Anfield ensured Liverpool topped Group E.
In the second game in Group E, a Jasmin Handanovic error allowed Sevilla to leave Maribor with a 1-1 draw, as the Spaniards reached the Champions League last 16.
In Group F, Shakhtar handed Manchester City their first defeat of the season as first-half goals by Brazilians Bernard and Ismaily sealed a 2-1 win for the Ukranians to secure them second place in the Group.
The Ukranian side finished ahead of Napoli who lost 2-1 at Feyenoord which leaves the Serie A high fliers to play in the Europa League.
In Group G, two-time winners Porto secured second spot with a 5-2 win over Monaco in a game which ended 10-a-side.
While, Anderson Talisca scored a late winner for Besiktas as the Group winners won 2-1 at 10-man RB Leipzig, the result sent Ralph Hasenhuttl's side into the Europa League.
In Group, holders Real Madrid edged Borussia Dortmund 3-2 with Borja Mayoral, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lucas Vazquez on target. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang replied for the Germans.
Meanwhile, group leaders Tottenham Hotspur defeated Apoel Nicosia 3-0 courtesy of goals from Fernando Llorente, Son Heung-Min and Georges-Kevin N'Koudou.
Manchester United, Basel, Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, Roma, Chelsea, Barcelona, Juventus, Manchester City, Besiktas, Tottenham and Real Madrid had already secured their places in Monday's round of 16 draw.
