Liverpool desperate to land Real Madrid midfielder

Bengaluru, February 19: Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has reportedly identified Real Madrid youngster Dani Ceballos as the potential replacement of Philippe Coutinho who was snapped up by Barcelona in January.

To a great surprise of the fans, the Reds did not make a move to replace one of their biggest stars but it is being reported that the Liverpool boss is looking to make big signings in the summer.

Dani Ceballos has been linked with a move away from the Bernabeu in recent months.

The 21-year-old has struggled for regular game time following his move to Real Madrid last summer from Real Betis.

Despite being one of the biggest talents in world football, the midfielder has just started 2 La Liga matches this campaign.

According to Spanish transfer outlet Don Balon, Liverpool are desperate to land the Spain Under-21 international and claim Jurgen Klopp sees Ceballos as an ideal replacement for Barcelona star Philippe Coutinho at Anfield.

Don Balon also say that Ceballos has told Real president Florentino Perez of his desire to leave the Bernabeu in search of regular game time.

Coutinho completed his move from Liverpool to Barca last month in a £142m deal.

The Brazil international, 26, handed in a transfer request last summer in hope of forcing through the switch but the Reds stood firm to keep their star player at any cost.

However, the playmaker eventually made his dream move in January.

Liverpool have hardly struggled too much without their former number ten with their feared triumvirate Mohamed Salah. Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane all on song.

Ceballos is a technically gifted player who can thrive in the role of Coutinho at Liverpool.
