Liverpool's upcoming Champions League match against Girona follows the postponement of their Merseyside Derby due to Storm Darragh. This unexpected break has allowed Liverpool more rest than usual. Arne Slot, Liverpool's coach, sees no need for squad rotation despite the extra rest. Alisson may return from injury, potentially reclaiming his spot from Caoimhin Kelleher.

Slot is confident in his current lineup, which has delivered a perfect record in Europe's top club competition this season. "If we played Everton we might have played the same team but you never know what that intense fixture could lead to," Slot mentioned during a press conference. He believes the decision to postpone was wise, ensuring optimal conditions for such an important match.

Liverpool aims to secure automatic qualification for the last 16 by finishing in the top eight. Slot emphasised the importance of winning against Girona to maintain their position. "If you play starters every time then you also need the result because we try to finish high to skip the next round," he stated.

Alisson, sidelined since early October with a hamstring injury, is now fit and ready to compete for his position. Slot praised Alisson's contributions over the years, saying it’s beneficial to have him back. However, he acknowledged Kelleher's impressive performances in Alisson's absence.
