Liverpool join the race for Chelsea and Man Utd target

The Mirror claim that Bayer Leverkusen attacker Bailey is the man leading the list of potential replacements for Philippe Coutinho.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp

Bengaluru, February 12: Liverpool are looking to go toe-to-toe with Premier League trio Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United for the signature of Bundesliga star Leon Bailey as per reports in Germany.

The Reds ended their interest in Monaco winger Thomas Lemar this week which means it will be easier for Arsenal to get the Frenchman.

Jurgen Klopp is unsure of whether Lemar deserves the massive price-tag Monaco have slapped on him and has ordered his scouts to look for alternatives.

The Mirror claim that Bayer Leverkusen attacker Bailey is the man leading the list of potential replacements for Philippe Coutinho.

Chelsea saw a bid of over £20million turned down by Bayer Leverkusen for Bailey last January. The Blues though, have not not been put off and are confident they can strike a deal for the hugely-talented 20-year-old in the summer.

Chelsea have watched Bailey in action in Germany for months, but Liverpool and United are poised to spark a bidding war.

Leverkusen are likely to demand an astonishing fee for their most prized asset, with club officials already telling suitors Bailey will cost upwards of £100m.

Bailey has been in fine form this season with ten goals and five assists in 22 appearances.

The youngster is capable of playing on either flank and is blessed with an incredible pace.

The Jamaican is similar to Sadio Mane in many ways and would be a great asset for Liverpool considering the way they play.

The Reds have a host of speedy wingers to chose from, but Klopp is desperate to add more creative fire power after losing Coutinho.

Bailey is thought to be keen on a switch to the Premier League, where one of his idols, former Liverpool star Raheem Sterling, stars for Manchester City.
