With a new manager at the helm, Liverpool has a wonderful start to the season. They are already leading the EPL points table and also won both of the opening fixtures in UCL.
Despite going through a transition period, Liverpool managed to win eight of the nine games they played. But the only problem Arne Slot has is that the three pillars of Liverpool’s squad, Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold, are all in the final years of their contracts. In recent years, all three have been crucial for Liverpool.

On TNT Sports he said, “The Sporting Director and Jurgen [Klopp] are leaving, so it’s got to this limbo, of sorts. What’s helping is that Virgil and Mo Salah are in the same predicament. There’s been a problem within the club that hasn’t been sorted out sooner. Hopefully, it won’t be hard for the three of them - particularly Trent - to get it all sorted amicably.”
He also added, “I know they’ve all been talking in the club. I’ve been talking to the players, so it’s well on the way, the club won't say anything until it’s signed, sealed and delivered.”
However, there are reports that Real Madrid is now looking for alternatives for the English defender. CaughtOffside claims that Real Madrid are now targeting Pedro Porro with Manchester United’s Diogo Dalot. Bayern Munich’s Dutch youngster Jeremie Frimpong is also on the radar of the European champions. This diversion of Real Madrid from Alexander-Arnold could be a blessing for Liverpool as it's a sign that the English star is not leaving his club.
