Bengaluru, January 26: Merseyside rivals Liverpool and Everton are set to do battle for £15m rated West Brom striker Salomon Rondon this month, according to The Sun.
Rondon joined the Baggies from Zenit in 2015, but has had a mixed time in the Premier League.
The striker has only scored 20 goals in three seasons at the Hawthorns, assisting five but now according to reports, both the Merseyside clubs are in the hunt for a potential deal for the player in a bid to strengthen their squad.
Liverpool are reportedly set to lose striker Sturridge as the three lions player is desperate for more game time after spending a lot of time on the bench under Jurgen Klopp and has falled below Firmino, Solanke in the pecking order.
Clubs like West Ham United, Inter Milan and Sevilla have all shown interest in the 28-year-old and should the player leave Anfield, Klopp has reportedly shortlisted the Venezuelan footballer as a potential replacement.
Everton, meanwhile could also be short of options in the attack after reports emerged that the club is willing to let new signing Sandro Ramirez leave just after six months at the club. And despite signing a significant forward, Cenk Tosun this month, they could go for Rondon in a last-ditch attempt to add depth to the squad.
Rondon has just 18 months remaining on his current deal and despite the speculation, Brom who are fighting for survival are not interested in selling the player.
However, it is believed that a bid in the excess of £15million could tempt the club to allow the player to leave.
The player was recently in the headlines after he was involved in a freak accidental clash with Everton player James McCarthy that saw the midfielder suffer a broken leg.
The forward was seen in tears immediately after the accident and also later sent his best wishes to the player after the game.
