Liverpool set to bid for Bundesliga superstar

Bengaluru, December 5: In-form Premier League club Liverpool are ready to launch a bid for Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to reports in Germany and England.

The Gabon-born striker was desperate to leave Borussia Dortmund in the summer, and has made the headlines for all wrong reasons this season despite netting an impressive 17 goals in 19 games already in all competitions.

He was suspended following an unauthorised trip to Barcelona before his needless red card sparked Schalke's dramatic comeback from 4-0 down to 4-4 in the Rivierderby.

Reports from Merseyside claim that Liverpool are looking to use the situation at Dortmund in their favour as they look to launch a bid for the star hitman in January.

The report claims Daniel Sturridge may be looking to leave Anfield in search of game time with a World Cup place far from assured and Jurgen Klopp has identified Aubameyang as the perfect replacement of the England international.

While there may be some concern at Anfield after Egypt manager Hector Cuper claimed Real Madrid were interested in signing Reds strike ace Mohamed Salah but it looks unlikely that the Egyptian will move so soon as he just moved to Anfield this summer.

Aubameyang was very close to a move to Chelsea in the summer, but was forced to stay as no bid arrived before the deadline set by Dortmund.

However, the Gabon international seems far from happy at Signal Iduna Park and that might be the reason behind his poor attitude on and off the pitch.

Jurgen Klopp knows the speedster forward closely from his time at Borussia Dortmund and he was the manager who brought him to the global stage from Ligue 1 side AS Saint Etienne.

The duo combined pretty well during their time together at the Signal Iduna Park and could recreate their magic once again at Anfield.

Since the German's departure, Aubameyang has burst into life as one of the best goal scorers in Europe.

And Klopp would be keen on a reunion with a player whose style would fit perfectly in his attacking system with his speed and technical abilities.
