Liverpool have confirmed the acquisition of Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia. The goalkeeper will remain on loan at Valencia for this season. The Georgian international impressed during Euro 2024, earning a move to Anfield. This marks the first significant signing under Arne Slot's management at Liverpool.
Mamardashvili will stay with Valencia for the rest of the LaLiga season before joining Liverpool ahead of the 2025-26 campaign. Reports indicate that Liverpool agreed on a £30 million deal, including add-ons, for the 23-year-old. He is expected to compete with Alisson for the starting goalkeeper position.

"We have reached an agreement for the transfer of Giorgi Mamardashvili, subject to a work permit and international clearance," Liverpool FC announced on August 27, 2024. "The Valencia goalkeeper is set to move to Anfield ahead of the 2025-26 season."
Mamardashvili's transfer follows his standout performance at the European Championship, where he made 21 saves in three group-stage matches. This achievement tied him for the most saves by any goalkeeper in tournament history.
At Valencia, Mamardashvili has made 102 appearances and kept 31 clean sheets across all competitions. He has started both of their fixtures this term against Barcelona and Celta Vigo.
Alisson, who has two years left on his contract with an option for an additional year, is expected to remain Liverpool's first-choice goalkeeper. Caoimhin Kelleher is also part of Liverpool's goalkeeping roster.
Additionally, Arne Slot's team is reportedly interested in Juventus' Federico Chiesa before England's transfer window closes on Friday.
The signing of Mamardashvili signifies a strategic move by Liverpool to strengthen their squad ahead of future seasons while maintaining strong competition within their goalkeeping ranks.
