Bengaluru, March 3: Newcastle are two points away from the relegation zone and with Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham left to play, they have only 6 matches against teams that aren't in the top 6. They desperately need points to avoid relegation and the way they beat Manchester United should give them the confidence to believe that Liverpool can be defeated.

However, history is not on their side. The last time they defeated Liverpool at Anfield was in 1994. Given the way Liverpool have dispatched teams with ease in the last few games, few will be backing Newcastle to break that winless Anfield run this time. What they shouldn't forget is that part of the winless run was because of a man who is now their manager. Rafa Benitez is a Liverpool legend and he will definitely know a thing or two about defeating his beloved team.

The defeat of Manchester United does remind us that Benitez is still a big game manager. While he might not have a team like the ones he had at Liverpool, Chelsea or Valencia, he has definitely moulded them into a strong defensive unit. They have the youngest team in terms of average age and their 24 year old captain Jamaal Lascelles epitomises their resilience in defense.

Liverpool on the other hand, would have found teams like Newcastle as a potential banana skin last season. This season they have managed to play well against teams at the lower end of the table thanks to a change in their tactics. Their overall game management has improved and their midfielders have put in a solid display protecting the back four.

While talking about Liverpool, the front three of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino will invariably be mentioned. The fact that all three of them got onto the scoresheet last match will boost Liverpool's chances of claiming all three points. Andy Robertson will also have a major role to play in the game with his delightful crosses that should cause Newcastle a lot of problems.

Though Liverpool won't be able to beat Newcastle as easily as they beat West Ham, they should still be able to get their three points. This match can be deemed as top 4 vs relegation. Liverpool are aware that they are four points away from fifth and with 10 games to go they cannot take Newcastle lightly. Benitez on the other hand will most likely settle for a point or hope that they can do a smash and grab at Anfield.
