Liverpool's Youngest-Ever Player now owns a Fried Chicken Shop, Earns 400 Pounds in Baller League

By MyKhel Staff

Jerome Sinclair once had the world at his feet. At just 16 years and six days old, he made history by becoming Liverpool's youngest-ever player - a record he still holds to this day.

That night in September 2012, when he stepped onto the pitch in a League Cup clash against West Brom, fans and pundits alike believed they were witnessing the rise of a future star.

Liverpool

Spotted and signed from West Bromwich Albion's academy at the age of 14, Sinclair was highly rated for his pace, sharp movement, and goal-scoring instincts. His youth performances lit up academy matches, and Liverpool had high hopes for him. But sometimes, football is as unpredictable as it is beautiful.

Despite his early breakthrough, Sinclair found first-team chances limited. He made only a handful of senior appearances, with his only goal for Liverpool coming in an FA Cup tie against Exeter City in 2016. Craving game time and a bigger role, he made the move to Watford later that year - a decision he hoped would unlock his potential.

At Watford, Sinclair struggled to cement a regular place. A string of loan spells followed - from Birmingham City and Sunderland to Oxford United, and even stints abroad in the Netherlands and Bulgaria. Each move felt like a fresh start, but consistency and rhythm remained elusive.

By 2021, his professional football career had reached a crossroads. Without a club and with his once-bright career in limbo, Sinclair faced a reality that many footballers fear: the dream might be over.

A Chicken Shop Owner

But Sinclair didn't dwell on what could've been. Instead, he made a bold pivot - stepping into the world of business.

In 2022, he opened his own Morley's fried chicken franchise on Dudley Road in Birmingham. The fast-food chain, famous for its South London roots, had long been a staple of urban food culture - and Sinclair saw an opportunity to bring something familiar and beloved to a new crowd. Now, instead of taking on defenders, he's serving up crispy chicken and building his brand across the country.

Sinclair and Baller League

Interestingly, Sinclair hasn't completely stepped away from the sport. He's been spotted playing in the Baller League UK - a new, entertainment-driven league that features former pros, where he earns appearance fees of around 400 pounds per game.

From the bright lights of Anfield to the buzz of a busy chicken shop in Birmingham, Jerome Sinclair's story is a reminder that life may take one through different avenues, and its all about just not giving up.
