Liverpool, Dec 30: Steven Gerrard, England and Liverpool midfielder was arrested by police on charges of assault on Monday, Dec 29. Gerrard, 28, as one of six men arrested in the early hours of the morning after police were called to a disturbance at a bar in the centre of Liverpool.

Police sources later confirmed they had arrested a 28-year-old man from the Formby area north of Liverpool on suspicion of assault and said in police custody. The other people arrested for assault also came from Liverpool and were aged 33, 31, 29, 19, 18.

Police said that a 34 year-old-man from Sourthport (North of Liverpool) with facial injuries was admitted to hospital. On Sunday, Dec 28 Gerrard scored twice in 5-1 Premier League victory over Newcastle United.
