Ruben Loftus-Cheek: Eight-Week Jaw Injury Sets Back AC Milan Schedule

Ruben Loftus-Cheek faces an estimated eight-week layoff after fracturing the alveolar jaw during AC Milan's defeat to Parma. The midfielder expressed gratitude to supporters and medical staff, stressing that the worst is behind him as he targets a return to action for Milan.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek expects the most difficult spell to be over after sustaining a broken jaw, with AC Milan confirming the midfielder is set for around eight weeks out, a spell that is likely to rule Loftus-Cheek out of several important Serie A fixtures in the title race.

The England international suffered what Milan described as "a fracture of the alveolar process of the jaw", and medical assessment indicated a recovery period of about two months, meaning Loftus-Cheek may not feature again until late April as the season enters its decisive phase.

Loftus-Cheek eight-week jaw setback

If that eight-week estimate proves correct, Loftus-Cheek will miss key Serie A clashes against Inter and Napoli, and could also be unavailable when Milan face Juventus, weakening their midfield options as their chances of overtaking Inter in the Scudetto race already appear limited.

Loftus-Cheek sustained the injury during Milan’s 1-0 Serie A loss to Parma at San Siro, after a heavy collision with goalkeeper Edoardo Corvi; the midfielder required lengthy treatment on the pitch, left on a stretcher wearing a neck brace, and Ardon Jashari came on as an early replacement in the 11th minute.

Loftus-Cheek later addressed supporters through an Instagram story, posting the message: "It was a tough blow, but the worst is behind me." The midfielder chose to speak directly to fans soon after Milan released their medical update, underlining a positive attitude despite the serious setback.

Loftus-Cheek expanded on those thoughts by adding: "A heartfelt thanks to all the medical staff who supported me over these past hours with professionalism and care. A special thanks to all the fans for your countless messages of love and support: I've read them and they've given me incredible strength. Thanks to my teammates: We are a team; we are a family. Now, forward towards our goals, strong and united, together."

Support for Loftus-Cheek has also come from the club’s official channels, with messages of encouragement shared after the Parma match, adding to the many responses from fans and teammates who aim to keep morale high while Milan prepare to manage several crucial games without the midfielder.

With Milan already under pressure in Serie A, Loftus-Cheek’s absence forces the coaching staff to adjust midfield plans, yet the player’s clear appreciation of medical help and fan backing, along with Milan’s public support, suggests both club and midfielder remain focused on recovery and the collective objectives ahead.
