Los Angeles Galaxy leave door open for Zlatan Ibrahimovic

LA Galaxy has been home to some of the greatest European players in the last decade like David Beckham and Steven Gerrard but will have to wait for Ibrahimovic.

Los Angeles, July 31: The chief of Major League Soccer side LA Galaxy Chris Klein has confirmed that Zlatan Ibrahimovic wants to keep playing in Europe and not in the MLS next season.

Ibrahimovic's move to Los Angeles emerged after he was released by Manchester United in the wake of a knee ligament injury in April, but the talks have cooled down as the Swede believes that he still has it in him to play in Europe at the very top level.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has recently hinted towards handing Zlatan a short-term contract once he makes a full recovery in January.

While Klein, speaking last week, had confirmed that the MLS side would have to wait for at least another season before securing his services.

“We have an incredible relationship with Zlatan and his agent. He loves our club, and he loves L.A.," he said.

“We have an interest in him. I think, for now, he wants to stay in Europe. Our doors are open for a player like that. We have rights to him in our league. We'll see where that goes."

Ibrahimovic, despite being 35, had a stunning season with Manchester United last season and showed that he is still a top striker and can continue for a few years more. A serious injury in the closing stages of the season acted as a blow, but the Swede is keen to make a strong comeback.

Right now, however, Ibrahimovic has his eyes set on reasserting himself on Mourinho's line-up as soon as possible.

LA Galaxy has been home to some of the greatest European players in the last decade like David Beckham and Steven Gerrard, and no wonder why the California side want Ibrahimovic, but they probably have to wait for a few more years.
