Ange Postecoglou has announced that Tottenham's Lucas Bergvall will not play again this season due to an ankle ligament injury. The midfielder missed the 3-1 victory over Bodo/Glimt after injuring himself before their Europa League semi-final first leg. Despite this setback, Bergvall recently extended his contract with Spurs until 2031 following a successful year.
Postecoglou explained how the injury occurred during training, stating, "It wasn't a tackle, he went to turn and his ankle gave way. They are things that happen." He expressed disappointment for Bergvall missing the big game but remained optimistic about the player's future, saying, "Every experience in life and football makes you stronger. He has an unbelievable career ahead of him."

The Spurs manager also provided updates on Dominic Solanke and James Maddison, who were injured during their recent match. Postecoglou mentioned that Solanke's injury is not considered serious, although he remains doubtful for the weekend game. However, Maddison's knee issue is more concerning, and he has undergone a scan with results pending.
Postecoglou shared his thoughts on Bergvall's situation: "Lucas, it looks like the injury is significant to keep him out for the rest of the season." Despite this setback, Bergvall's impressive performance this season includes 45 appearances across all competitions, contributing one goal and four assists.
Looking ahead, Tottenham will face West Ham at the London Stadium before travelling to Norway for their second leg against Bodo/Glimt. Meanwhile, Son Heung-min is progressing well in recovery and could return soon. Postecoglou noted that Son "feels better every day," leaving open the possibility of his participation in upcoming matches.
Bergvall's absence is a blow to Spurs as they navigate crucial fixtures. However, Postecoglou remains confident in his squad's ability to adapt and overcome challenges. The team aims to continue their strong performance in both domestic and European competitions despite these setbacks.
