As Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) prepare to face Brest on Saturday, Luis Enrique has highlighted the strength of Ligue 1. This match precedes their all-French Champions League play-off in February. PSG will encounter Brest three times that month, including twice in the two-legged knockout play-off tie in Europe's top competition.
The upcoming Champions League tie between PSG and Brest marks only the second all-French clash in the tournament's history. The first was between Lyon and Bordeaux during the 2009-10 quarter-finals, where Lyon triumphed 3-2 on aggregate. Four Ligue 1 teams have reached the Champions League knockouts this season.

Monaco is set to face Benfica in the play-offs, while Lille secured an automatic spot by finishing within the top eight during the league phase. "The French league is not valued enough," Luis Enrique remarked, noting that four French teams are now in the Champions League, with at least two guaranteed spots in the last 16.
PSG defeated Brest 3-1 at home back in September and remain unbeaten in Ligue 1 this season. Historically, Brest has struggled against PSG, winning only 8% of their league encounters (3 out of 36 matches). They have gone winless for 26 consecutive matches against PSG, drawing eight and losing sixteen.
"Brest are a great team that work very well together," Enrique commented. He acknowledged their exceptional performance last year and noted their effective game plan execution. Facing them away twice first presents a challenge, especially since every mistake can be costly in the Champions League.
Enrique emphasised that maintaining momentum is crucial as they lead Ligue 1. However, he stressed that Ligue 1 and the Champions League are distinct competitions requiring strong performances in both arenas. "Tomorrow will be another scenario," he added.
Luis Enrique also praised goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma amid transfer rumours linking him to Inter Milan. Donnarumma expressed his desire to extend his contract with PSG, which expires next year. "Donnarumma's words were very positive," Enrique said.
"We want players who want to play here," Enrique continued, highlighting the importance of having players who are committed to representing Paris. He noted that such dedication is essential given the numerous challenges ahead for PSG.
