Luis Enrique Commends Ousmane Dembele As PSG's Key Player Following Two Hat-Tricks

Luis Enrique praised Ousmane Dembele for his remarkable back-to-back hat-tricks, emphasising his crucial role in PSG's Ligue 1 campaign and overall team dynamics.

Paris Saint-Germain's Ousmane Dembele has been in remarkable form, scoring consecutive hat-tricks last week. He first netted three goals in PSG's 4-1 victory over Stuttgart in the Champions League, securing a spot in the play-off round. This marked only his second career hat-trick, with the first occurring 3251 days ago for Rennes against Nantes in March 2016.

Dembele followed up his midweek performance with another hat-trick against Brest on Saturday. This brought his Ligue 1 goal tally to 14 for the 2024-25 season, setting a personal record for goals in a single season within Europe's top five leagues. His impressive form has helped PSG maintain a 10-point lead at the top of Ligue 1.

Enrique Lauds Dembele After Hat-Tricks

Since joining PSG from Barcelona in August 2023, Dembele has scored 25 goals and provided 19 assists across all competitions. His contributions have been significant, though he had more goal involvements during his time at Barcelona, where he recorded 40 goals and 43 assists. Luis Enrique praised Dembele's unique abilities, stating, "Dembele? A different player."

Enrique elaborated on Dembele's impact by saying, "Ousmane has always been a different player, whatever his position. He can dribble past two or three players, make decisive passes and score goals." The coach emphasised that being part of PSG requires readiness for challenging situations and highlighted the importance of teamwork.

Ahead of their French Cup match against Le Mans, Luis Enrique provided an update on Joao Neves' condition. Neves was substituted in the 77th minute against Stuttgart after assisting Dembele's second goal due to a knock on his right foot. Enrique reassured fans that Neves is not seriously injured but needs workload management due to the demanding schedule.

The January transfer window saw limited activity for PSG. They acquired Khvicha Kvaratskhelia from Napoli as their sole addition while allowing Xavi Simons to join RB Leipzig permanently after an 18-month loan spell. Enrique expressed satisfaction with the squad's improvement since last season, highlighting increased competition as essential.

"I'm still satisfied," Enrique stated regarding the transfer window. "Sometimes you might think that there isn't room for everyone, but since last season we've improved the squad." He stressed that fostering competition within the team is crucial for success.

As PSG continues their campaign across multiple competitions, Dembele's form remains pivotal to their ambitions this season. The team's depth and strategic planning under Luis Enrique aim to sustain their dominance domestically and in Europe.
