Luis Enrique Confident PSG Will Fight Until Last Minute Against Arsenal After Nice Loss

Despite a recent setback in Ligue 1, Luis Enrique remains confident that Paris Saint-Germain will be prepared for their Champions League semi-final against Arsenal. PSG experienced their first league defeat of the season, losing 3-1 to Nice. Morgan Sanson scored twice, with Fabian Ruiz netting for PSG before Youssouf Ndayishimiye sealed the win for Nice.

The loss marked PSG's first Ligue 1 defeat since May 12, 2024, against Toulouse, ending a 30-match unbeaten run. This streak included 26 wins and six draws. In recent weeks, PSG has struggled, winning only one of their last four matches across all competitions. They had previously won 22 out of the first 24 games in 2025.

Luis Enrique acknowledged the impact of recent performances on his team but urged them to remain steadfast. "The players are clearly affected," he admitted. "I can't guarantee titles or trophies, but I can guarantee that we will live up to our supporters and fight until the last minute in every match."

Enrique emphasized PSG's dominance in France this season and encouraged those doubting the team to reconsider. He stated, "We are the best team in France, and by far the best, as we have demonstrated throughout the season. Anyone who wants to get off the boat can do so."

Despite their domestic struggles, Enrique remains focused on their Champions League ambitions. He stressed the importance of staying true to their principles and being courageous as they prepare for Arsenal. "We remain true to our ideas, to be courageous and to think about winning the Champions League semi-finals," he said.

During their defeat to Nice, PSG lacked precision despite creating numerous opportunities. They registered 32 shots with an expected goals (xG) value of 3.16 but managed only one goal from these attempts. In contrast, Nice capitalized on all three shots on target from seven attempts.

Reflecting on Missed Opportunities

Enrique reflected on missed chances against Nice and praised their opponents' defensive efforts. "We attacked in many different ways; they defended incredibly well," he told DAZN regarding their performance.

The manager expressed hope for a similar attacking display against Arsenal while acknowledging Nice's commendable play. "We would love to play the same kind of match against Arsenal and have 30 chances," he added.
