Luis Rubiales' mother goes on 'hunger strike' for 'inhuman treatment' of son amid kiss saga

The alleged Spain football federation president Luis Rubiales' mother has gone on hunger strike, according to reports.

Luis Rubiales has been under fire for several vehement acts in the Final of the Women's World Cup in Sydney on August 20. After Spain beat England in the Final, Rubiales allegedly kissed Spanish women's team player Jenni Hermoso without her consent.

Rubiales was seen kissing her during the trophy presentation and now has been charged with sexual violence. He was also seen grabbing his crotch in celebration after Spain's victory, while the queen of Spain Letizia and her teenage daughter were metres away.

Rubiales has been suspended by FIFA and an investigation is pending against the 46-year-old for his conduct.

And now, things have taken a turn for the worse as Rubiales' mother Angeles Bejar has reportedly locked herself in a local church and has stopped eating. She has gone on a hunger strike for the 'inhuman treatment' of her son.

"We are suffering a lot for him. He has been judged before his time," Rubiales' cousin Vanessa Ruiz said.

"(The media) don't stop harassing us. We had to leave our house. We want them to leave us alone and for Jenni to tell the truth. It's not fair," she further said.

Luis Rubiales has been put under pressure to resign from his post, but he has repeatedly stated that he won't leave his post.

"No voy a remitir (I won't resign)," that was heard repeatedly in Rubiales' voice in an astounding Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) meeting recently. And his words were welcomed with arousing applause from various members of the RFEF.

Jenni Hermoso stated that the kiss was without her consent and has accused RFEF of having a "manipulative, hostile and controlling culture". 81 Spanish players have sent a letter stating they won't accept National Team call ups with Rubiales at the helm.

FIFA has suspended Rubiales for 90 days and has ordered both Rubiales and RFEF for not contacting Hermoso directly or through any other carriers.
