Luis Suarez Joins Inter Miami, Reunites With Lionel Messi, Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets

Luis Suarez will reunite with Lionel Messi and two other former FC Barcelona teammates as he signs for USA-based club Inter Miami on Friday after leaving Brazilian club Germio on a free transfer.

Luis Suarez will reunite with Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets, two of his former Barcelona teammates, in the Florida-based team in addition to Messi. Suarez expressed his excitement about taking on the new challenge at Inter Miami in a statement made on the team's official media channel.

"We are delighted to have a player of Luis' quality and passion for the game join our Club. He joins a squad that is inspiring the next generation and we look forward to seeing him take to the field with both former teammates and young players from our Academy," said Inter Miami co-owner David Beckham.

Luis Suarez meanwhile said that he wants help the team win more titles. "I'm very happy and excited to take on this new challenge with Inter Miami. I can't wait to get started, and I'm ready to work to make the dream of winning more titles with this great Club a reality.

"I'm optimistic about what we can achieve together with our shared ambition. I will give my all to bring joy to these great fans I've heard so much about while I wear Inter Miami colors, and look forward to reuniting with great friends and players. I'm also eager to meet my new teammates and coaches," Suarez said.

The 36-year-old Uruguyan formerly played for the Brazilian team Gremio, where he made 53 appearances and scored 26 goals. When Suarez played in La Liga with Messi and Neymar for the Catalan team Barcelona, his football career reached its pinnacle.

The Inter Miami player played for Barcelona from 2014 to 2020, making 283 appearances and tallying 198 goals. In Brazil, the Uruguayan assisted his previous team Gremio in winning the Recopa Gaucha and Campeonato Gaucho.
