Lukaku Napoli Training: Ignores Call, Faces Disciplinary Action
Romelu Lukaku’s future at Napoli faces new uncertainty after the striker failed to answer a club request to resume training on Tuesday, despite remaining in Belgium to work on fitness issues that had already ruled out participation with the national team.
Napoli stated that Lukaku, who has struggled for minutes since a late pre-season injury, did not attend the scheduled session in Naples and could now face internal sanctions, including the possibility of being removed from full first-team training for an undefined spell.

The 32-year-old forward had initially joined up with Belgium but left the national squad due to fitness concerns, then chose to stay in Belgium for individual training, a decision that has now placed Lukaku at odds with Napoli following the ignored recall from the club.
Lukaku’s on-field involvement this season has been limited, with only 64 minutes played across seven appearances in all competitions, a direct result of an injury sustained in the closing stages of pre-season that has disrupted rhythm and match sharpness for Napoli’s centre-forward option.
SSC Napoli released an official communication outlining the current stance on the situation, confirming the player’s absence from the latest session and underlining that a formal response from Lukaku to the club’s request was not received before or during Tuesday’s scheduled training in Naples.
SSC Napoli can confirm that Romelu Lukaku did not respond to todays call to return to training.
The club reserves the right to consider taking the appropriate disciplinary action, as well as to determine whether the player will continue to train with the team for an indefinite period.
While the Romelu Lukaku training issue develops off the pitch, Antonio Conte’s Napoli are producing strong league form, winning four successive Serie A matches to close the gap to leaders Inter to seven points, with eight fixtures remaining in the domestic campaign.
Napoli’s next Serie A assignment raises the stakes further, as they welcome direct title rivals AC Milan after the international break, with the Rossoneri currently one point clear of Napoli, adding extra focus to how the Romelu Lukaku training and disciplinary situation might affect Conte’s squad options.
