Luton Town's Carlton Morris Confident Of Returning Ruthless Streak After West Brom Draw

Carlton Morris expresses confidence that Luton Town will rediscover their ruthless streak after a 1-1 draw with West Brom. Despite recent challenges, he believes quality in finishing will improve.

Carlton Morris remains optimistic about Luton Town's ability to regain their decisive edge after securing a 1-1 draw against West Brom. Despite dominating the first half at Kenilworth Road, Luton fell behind when Josh Maja cleverly redirected Karlan Grant's cross past Thomas Kaminski. However, they equalised when Tahith Chong intercepted Alex Mowatt's errant pass and scored with a low shot into the far corner.

West Brom, now with five consecutive draws in the Championship, saw their strong start to the season momentarily disrupted. The Baggies are still in the play-off race but risk dropping out of the top six if Blackburn Rovers, Watford, and Norwich City win their upcoming matches. Carlos Corberan's team managed only three shots on target from ten attempts, resulting in an expected goals (xG) total of 0.73.

Morris Confident Luton Will Regain Ruthlessness

Luton Town narrowly avoided defeat when substitute Devante Cole's acrobatic attempt was expertly saved by Kaminski two minutes before full-time. The Hatters remain just above the relegation zone due to goal difference, having collected only five points from a possible 21 in their last seven matches. Despite scoring just 15 times this season, Morris is confident that they will soon capitalise on their opportunities.

"I think it's another excellent performance from us at home," Morris told Sky Sports. "It's three on the bounce now for performances we can be proud of. It would just be nice to bring the points as well. We're getting the balls in the right areas so much; it's just that bit of quality, that ruthless streak at the end that we're missing at the moment. But it will come."

Carlos Corberan acknowledged his team's struggles against Luton's aggressive pressing style. "I think in general it was difficult to impose our identity today," Corberan said. "We knew that they would be aggressive in the press when we had the ball in our half." He noted that West Brom failed to create their desired game plan during the first half.

Corberan added, "In the second-half, the team went on the pitch with the idea to see if we could correct it and play better. We tried to play from the back but we lost the ball and they scored the goal. They created the mistake with aggressiveness." He admitted that overall, West Brom did not manage well enough to secure more than a point.

The match highlighted Luton's need for a clinical finish and West Brom's tactical adjustments against high-pressure opponents. Both teams aim to improve as they continue their respective campaigns in pursuit of better results.
