Lyon 2-1 PSG: Endrick And Moreira Lead Lyon To A Shock Win Over Ligue 1 Leaders

Lyon earned a 2-1 win over Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes, tightening the title race and boosting Lyon’s push for Champions League football. Endrick and Afonso Moreira struck early, and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s stoppage-time reply was not enough to rescue PSG.

The result keeps PSG only one point ahead of Lens at the top of Ligue 1, while Lyon climb onto the podium places. Lyon converted both first-half chances to gain control, then defended deep for long spells before surviving heavy late pressure from PSG’s attack.

Endrick and Moreira stun PSG as Lyon win

Underlying numbers highlighted how wasteful PSG were and how efficient Lyon proved. PSG attempted 23 shots and generated 2.88 expected goals, with six efforts on target. Lyon managed only five shots, all on target, yet produced 0.7 expected goals and converted twice to take the points.

Team Goals Shots Shots on target Expected goals (xG)
Paris Saint-Germain 1 23 6 2.88
Lyon 2 5 5 0.7

PSG’s missed penalty deepened that sense of frustration. Goncalo Ramos saw a first-half spot-kick saved, adding to a worrying trend. No team across Europe’s top five leagues has failed from the spot more often than PSG, who have now missed six of their 12 penalties this season.

Endrick’s display underlined how well the loan move from Real Madrid is working. The forward now has 10 goal involvements in Europe’s top five leagues in 2026, with four goals and six assists. Among players under 20, only Lamine Yamal, with 12, has contributed to more goals.

The opening goal arrived after just six minutes. Moreira threaded a precise pass between defenders for Endrick, who finished quickly at the near post past Matvey Safonov. That early strike silenced the home crowd and gave Lyon freedom to sit deeper and attack on the break.

Lyon vs PSG match flow and big chances

Lyon continued to threaten soon after. Abner Vinicius saw an overhead kick pushed over by Safonov, but PSG’s goalkeeper was beaten again in the 18th minute. Moreira collected the ball near the edge of the box and guided a low shot inside the post to make it 2-0.

PSG then carved out chances to respond. Ainsley Maitland-Niles produced a crucial block to stop Bradley Barcola, but soon conceded a penalty for barging Lucas Hernandez. Ramos’ spot-kick was saved by Dominik Greif, and Ramos later fired over just before half-time as PSG’s frustrations grew.

After the interval, PSG kept pressing but rarely made Greif work. Substitute Ousmane Dembele hit the crossbar with a powerful strike. Deep into added time, Kvaratskhelia curled a long-range shot in off the far post in the 94th minute, yet Lyon held firm through the final moments.

The match leaves PSG facing pressure from Lens while reflecting on missed chances and penalty problems. Lyon, meanwhile, emerge from the Parc des Princes with renewed belief in securing Champions League qualification, having combined sharp finishing with committed defending to defeat the league leaders away from home.
