Lyon Beat Nice 2-0 To Tighten Ligue 1 Title Challenge
Lyon stayed close to Paris Saint-Germain and Lens in the Ligue 1 title race with a 2-0 home win against Nice, as Corentin Tolisso and Noah Nartey scored in each half to secure a seventh straight league victory and cut the gap to second-placed PSG to six points.
The result extended Lyon's overall winning streak to 13 matches in all competitions, maintaining strong momentum at a key stage of the season, while Nice created several clear chances but failed to find a way past goalkeeper Dominik Greif during an open contest at Groupama Stadium.

Lyon's current run of 13 consecutive wins in all competitions is the club's second-longest sequence, with the only longer stretch coming between August and November 2006, when Lyon put together 14 victories, highlighting the consistency of Paulo Fonseca's side during the 2025-26 campaign.
Defensively, Lyon collected a 19th clean sheet from 33 matches across all competitions this season, the highest number at this stage in the club's history, and among teams in Europe's top five leagues in 2025-26, Fonseca's team hold the best clean-sheet rate, with shutouts in 58% of their fixtures.
Lyon's attack has matched that defensive strength, particularly at Groupama Stadium, where the team have now scored in 28 successive home games in all competitions, their longest such home scoring run since a 36-match sequence that stretched from February 1986 to October 1987.
The win against Nice also underlined Lyon's improvement in Ligue 1, as they have now won seven league matches in a row, matching in that short span the seven victories achieved across their first 15 league games of the season, when they also recorded three draws and five defeats.
During this match, Lyon were marginally superior on expected goals, finishing with 1.32 xG from nine attempts, compared with Nice's 1.26 xG from 10 shots, reflecting a tight contest where Lyon were more clinical in the penalty area across both halves.
{TABLE_1}Nice began the game on the front foot and almost struck first in the 22nd minute when Sofiane Diop broke behind the Lyon back line, but Greif closed the angle quickly and saved, before Tom Louchet forced another stop from distance as Lyon survived early pressure.
Lyon responded with a swift counter-attack for the opening goal, as Pavel Sulc drove forward and delivered a precise cross to the far post, where Tolisso arrived to guide a first-time finish past the Nice goalkeeper with Lyon's first effort on target of the evening.
After half-time, Nice again threatened an equaliser within four minutes of the restart, when Louchet met a low cross inside the box, yet Greif blocked the close-range effort with a smart save using both feet, preserving Lyon's narrow advantage during a lively spell.
Soon after Sulc missed the target from inside the area, Lyon doubled the lead on 64 minutes when Nartey skipped past Charles Vanhoutte on the left side and then bent a left-footed shot into the top-left corner, leaving the Nice goalkeeper with no chance and giving Lyon firm control.
Nice continued to search for a route back as Diop dragged a later attempt wide of the far post, but Lyon managed the closing stages calmly, limited further danger around Greif's goal and ensured their Ligue 1 title challenge stayed alive, while also stretching their home scoring and overall winning streaks.
