Real Madrid's new manager, Xabi Alonso, is optimistic about learning from each match to enhance the team's performance. His debut as coach ended in a 1-1 draw against Al-Hilal at the Club World Cup. Federico Valverde missed a late penalty after Mohammed Al Qahtani fouled Fran Garcia. Despite taking an early lead through Gonzalo Garcia, Madrid was held back by Ruben Neves' equalising penalty.

Alonso noted that Real Madrid improved in the second half of the game. "I would say that the first half was not as good as the second, we improved in the second half, we had better chances and better control," he mentioned in his post-match interview with DAZN. He emphasised the importance of learning from each game to continue improving.

The match saw Arda Guler hit the crossbar, while Al-Hilal missed several opportunities themselves. Alonso, who took over from Carlo Ancelotti last month, believes there is much more potential to be unlocked within his team.

Ruben Neves felt that Al-Hilal deserved more than just a draw against Real Madrid. "It was a very good game from us, we played very well in the game," he stated. Neves believed his team performed better in the first half and should have been leading at halftime.

Despite Real Madrid controlling possession in the second half, Neves thought Al-Hilal had more significant moments during the match. He expressed satisfaction with their performance against one of football's biggest clubs.

Vinicius Jr's Condition Post-Match

Towards the end of the game, Vinicius Jr appeared uncomfortable due to cramps caused by heat and pitch conditions. Alonso reassured fans about his condition: "Yeah, he had some cramps because of the heat, because of the pitch, it was a really demanding game."

The Saudi Pro League side equalised through Neves after Raul Asencio fouled Marcos Leonardo. Leonardo later missed a chance to give Al-Hilal a lead. Neves acknowledged their strong team spirit and determination to win rather than settle for a draw.

The match concluded with both teams sharing points in Miami's challenging conditions. With two group games remaining, both teams aim to build on this result and improve further.
