Madueke Remains Committed To Chelsea's Club World Cup Goals Despite Arsenal Transfer Speculation

Enzo Maresca emphasises Noni Madueke's dedication to Chelsea as they aim for the Club World Cup final, despite ongoing transfer links to Arsenal.

Enzo Maresca is confident that Noni Madueke will ignore transfer rumours linking him to Arsenal and focus on helping Chelsea reach the Club World Cup final. Chelsea are set to play Fluminense at the MetLife Stadium, with the winner facing either Paris Saint-Germain or Real Madrid. Despite speculation about a £50 million bid from Arsenal, Maresca believes Madueke is committed to Chelsea's success.

Maresca noted that similar distractions occurred before Palmeiras joined the team. "Personally, I think the same noise was before Palmeiras came," he said. "You see, we gave him half an hour, and he was very good, so I don't have any doubt that if we need Noni, he is going to help us." He acknowledged that dealing with such speculation can be challenging but trusts Madueke to handle it well.

Madueke Focused on Club World Cup with Chelsea

Madueke joined Chelsea from PSV Eindhoven in 2023 and has been linked with a move to Arsenal. The 23-year-old scored 11 goals and provided four assists last season. At the Club World Cup, he has made five appearances, starting twice. Despite being an unused substitute against Benfica in the round of 16, his focus remains on aiding Chelsea's campaign.

Chelsea have bolstered their squad by signing Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund and Estevao from Palmeiras during the summer transfer window. These additions strengthen their wide positions as they aim for a second Club World Cup title.

The weather in New Jersey has been a significant topic throughout the tournament. European teams have expressed concerns about playing in hot and humid conditions. Maresca dismissed worries about how these conditions might affect Chelsea's performance against Fluminense. "Like other teams, we have already played in different conditions," he stated.

Niko Kovac, head coach of Borussia Dortmund, criticised the MetLife Stadium pitch after their 3-2 loss to Real Madrid in the quarter-finals. He described it as more suitable for golf than football. However, Maresca emphasised adaptability and determination as key factors for success.

Facing Brazilian Teams

This will be Chelsea's third encounter with a Brazilian team at this year's Club World Cup. They lost 3-1 to Flamengo in the group stage but defeated Palmeiras 2-1 in the quarter-finals. Chelsea are unique in facing three opponents from Brazil in this competition.

Maresca anticipates another challenging match against Fluminense. "The first two were very good, with lots and lots of energy," he remarked. "Tomorrow no doubt it will be exactly the same." He praised Fluminense's experienced coach and players while acknowledging their clear style of play.

Chelsea aim to adapt effectively and secure victory despite potential challenges posed by both weather conditions and strong opposition from Brazilian teams.
