Maguire will welcome Riyad Mahrez with open arms

London, Feb 5: Leicester players will welcome their star winger Riyad Mahrez back with open arms, insists Harry Maguire.

The Foxes flier missed the draw with Swansea after failing to report for training in the wake of his failed exit on the deadline day.

However, Leicester City defender Maguire is adamant there are no hard feelings towards Mahrez despite his desire to join Manchester City.

He said: "The boys will welcome Riyad back and he's no doubt one of our best players.

"It's for him, his agent and the club to deal with, but we would welcome him back."

Leicester chief Claude Puel says he will “reassess Riyad when he clears his head” as the failure to move left him “very depressed”.

The 26-year-old has been offered help from the PFA over his bitter row with his employers.

Pep Guardiola made a late bid for the winger, who handed in a transfer request, but the Foxes held firm and asked for an unrealistic fee eventually leading the transfer to a dead end.

And in his absence, struggling Swansea fought back to draw after Jamie Vardy's opener.

Puel said: “The result is frustrating. We have to correct this because we have conceded a lot of goals from set-pieces.”

Mahrez is a former PFA Player of the Year and has been consistently linked with moves away from the King Power since then but to his frustrations, his employers have held firm to offers for the Algerian.

He has been linked to almost every club in England and also outside England but the Foxes have still managed to keep him.

The situation seems complicated now as Claude Puel and the player seeming being in a row with each other.
