Bengaluru, Oct 23: The appreciation came first from Florent Malouda on Saturday after the end of the match.
Malouda the French World Cupper and marquee footballer of Delhi Dynamos admitted saying, “We surrendered to the opposition custodian. He produced a great performance."
The same reaction came from the former World Cupper and coach of Delhi Dynamos Gianluca Zambrotta. He remarked: “It was a magnificent show from their goalkeeper." Unbeaten Delhi's winning streak came to an end with 0-1 defeat against Atletico De Kolkata (ATK) in Kolkata on Saturday.
At a time when the praises were being showered by two great former footballers, Debjit Majumder, the custodian of Atletico De Kolkata who guided his team to earn full three points by making four brilliant saves in Saturday's match, looked simply nonchalant.
The Mohun Bagan goalkeeper was also reminded that last season he was unbeaten in ten consecutive matches in the I-League.
Debjit said: “Before we stepped onto the ground coach told us we should not at all get tensed with the thought that we have not been able to win in last three matches. Rather, Molina asked us to enjoy the match and said only in this way we could ensure three points."
He further revealed: “The pep-talk from our coach had aroused all the players today. And everybody in the team was at their best."
Spanish coach of ATK, Jose Molina also was overwhelmed with his custodian's impeccable performance. In the post-match media conference, Molina revealed: “After having joined as ATK coach I was informed about the quality and his previous consistency in the country's top league.
"But as I have been watching him in the training, it has been an excellent experience to watch him improving almost every day. I am truly impressed by his determination. He does not speak much. He does everything on the ground."
