Mohun Bagan conquered the Indian football by winning the ISL on Sunday (March 19) as they beat Bengaluru FC in the final. And now West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee wants the club to win the 'World Cup' and 'conquer the world'.

Mamata Banerjee, who claims herself as an ardent Mohun Bagan supporter, was present at the club tent on Monday (March 20) and felicitated the players and the manager in front come thousands of supporters.

It was a magical moment for the age-old Kolkata club where Mamata set her sights to make Mohun Bagan world beaters and urged them to challenge themselves against top nations in the footballing world.

"Mohun Bagan has to be the best in the world. I want to bring the World Cup through you," Mamata said with a vibrant voice during the programme.

She also reckons the club need to play top nations like Brazil, Italy and Poland and beat them to become the World Champions.

"Why won't Mohun Bagan play against Brazil? Why won't Mohun Bagan play against Poland? Why won't Mohun Bagan play against Italy? We have to play against them. We have to conquer the world," the Bengal Chief Minister added.

"One cannot ignore Bengal. Bengal can do it. Bengal can win. You'll win it tomorrow. You'll conquer the world. Remember that day that I said this. I truly believe the entire world will come to your doorstep one day. They will come to welcome us," she continued.

Can Mohun Bagan win the World Cup?

The FIFA World Cup, which Argentina recently won, is played among nations and clubs can't take part in it. Hence, in that aspect, NO! Mohun Bagan can't win the World Cup. India can qualify for World Cup and win it, but not any club.

Which World Cup can Mohun Bagan win?

Mohun Bagan do have a chance to win the World Cup, which is FIFA Club World Cup. The Club World Cup is an annual tournament which takes place with top continental clubs and Mohun Bagan can take part in it and if they win the tournament, they will be crowned Club World Cup champions.

But to qualify for the FIFA Club WC, Mohun Bagan will have to win the AFC Champions League. And in the tournament, they will have to beat the other continental champions and conquer the world.

Can Mohun Bagan play against Brazil, Italy and others?

Matches between national teams and clubs is generally unusual. There is now way a nation and a club can play in a competitive match. But a national team and a club can play in an exhibition match for some social cause or a friendly match. But those sorts of games don't have any competitive value and are regarded an unofficial matches.

Hence Mohun Bagan can play Brazil, Italy.....anyone in a football match, but that won't go into the official record books, and won't definitely make them World Champions.
