
Bengaluru, March 5: Manchester City look set to join the race for teenage Fulham sensation Ryan Sessegnon who is one of the hottest prospects in world football right now.
Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United were leading the chase for the 17-year-old after his stunning from in the championship but now the race is heating up with the runaway Premier League leaders in the equation.
The Cityzens are highly interested in the teenager, who is set to cost more than £40million, as they do not want to miss out on one of the hottest prospects in Europe.
Sessegnon has hit double-figure for goals this season and has been likened to Gareth Bale after starting his career as a left-back.
The youngster, like Bale, is now impressing further up the field and has caught the eye of top foreign clubs such as Real Madrid and Bayern Munich as well.
Fulham are braced for a summer bid for their prized asset but financially do not need to sell and can hold out for an even more lucrative offer.
Sessegnon has played for England Under-19s but Gareth Southgate wants him to play at least with the Under-21s before he calls him up for the senior side.
His form has even seen him suggested as having an outside chance of the World Cup squad this summer, with Southgate keen to promote young players.
Sessegnon, when asked about his England chances, said: “Why not? It will be a fantastic achievement for me to go.”
The bombarding left-back who features higher up the pitch now, has scored 14 goals this season while setting up 4 for his teammates.
Just 17 years of age, he will improve further and can become one of the most feared wingers in the world with his quality.
