Manchester City is preparing for the upcoming Club World Cup, aiming to finalise their squad before the tournament begins. The competition, featuring 32 teams, starts on June 14. Manchester City will face Morocco's Wydad AC four days later. Despite not securing a major trophy this season, losing the FA Cup final to Crystal Palace and finishing third in the Premier League, they see this as a chance to finish strong.
In January, Manchester City strengthened their team by signing Omar Marmoush, Nico Gonzalez, Abdukodir Khusanov, and Vitor Reis. However, with Kevin De Bruyne departing and uncertainty surrounding Jack Grealish's future, Chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak emphasised the importance of swift summer transfers. "We feel very good about these players," Al Mubarak stated. "That's four players in January."

The club is determined to continue enhancing their squad during the summer transfer window. Al Mubarak highlighted that they have already pinpointed specific targets for various positions. "And I can tell you today, that's, I would say, day one of the new season," he said. "We have clearly identified who exactly are the targets."
Following their match against Wydad on June 18, Manchester City will play against Al Ain on June 23 and Juventus on June 26 in the group stage. The club aims to have a well-prepared team ready for these challenges. "Our objective is to try to be ready with the new squad for the Club World Cup," Al Mubarak added.
The club's strategy involves having clear options for each position they aim to strengthen. "And we have our clear number one option, our clear number two option," Al Mubarak explained. This approach ensures that their transfer activities are efficient and targeted.
Manchester City's focus remains on assembling a competitive squad capable of performing well in international competitions like the Club World Cup. With strategic planning and decisive actions in the transfer market, they hope to achieve success in upcoming matches.
