Erling Haaland has missed out the Premier League match on Wednesday (April 2) between Manchester City and Leicester City at the Etihad Stadium.
Man City are locking horns against the struggling Leicester outfit but Pep Guardiola is without his ace striker Erling Haaland.

Manchester City's star striker, Erling Haaland, is absent from today's Premier League clash against Leicester City due to an ankle injury sustained during the FA Cup quarter-final against Bournemouth. Haaland had equalized in that game but was forced off in the second half following a heavy challenge. He was later seen leaving the stadium on crutches with his left foot in a protective boot.
This injury is a major blow for Manchester City, especially given Haaland's impressive form this season - 30 goals in 40 appearances across competitions. His absence comes at a critical time, with City in the middle of a tight title race and an FA Cup semi-final against Nottingham Forest looming later this month.
In Haaland's absence, Omar Marmoush is leading the line. The Egyptian came off the bench against Bournemouth and netted the match-winner.
Manager Pep Guardiola confirmed that Haaland is expected to be out for five to seven weeks.
"Sometimes there are years when these kinds of things happen. It's happened all season... I wish him a good recovery, as quickly as possible and then come back," Guardiola said.
The club is hopeful that Haaland will return in time for the FIFA Club World Cup in mid-June.
Guardiola added, "The doctors told me between five and seven weeks. So hopefully for the end of season and FIFA Club World Cup he will be ready."
Erling Haaland's time at Manchester City has been nothing short of sensational since he joined from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2022. In his debut season, he broke the Premier League's single-season scoring record by netting 36 goals, surpassing the previous best set by Alan Shearer and Andy Cole. Across all competitions, he scored 52 goals, playing a pivotal role in City's historic treble-winning campaign, which included the Premier League, FA Cup, and UEFA Champions League.
In the 2023-24 season, Haaland maintained his ruthless form, scoring 27 goals in 31 Premier League matches and securing his second consecutive Golden Boot. His continued brilliance helped Manchester City lift the Premier League title once again, further cementing their domestic dominance.
By the 2024-25 season, Haaland had added 21 more goals in 28 league appearances, bringing his overall tally for the campaign to 30 goals in 39 matches across all competitions. As of March 30, 2025, he had racked up an astonishing 84 goals and 16 assists in 94 Premier League appearances.
In January 2025, Haaland committed his long-term future to the club by signing a 10-year contract extension, keeping him at the Etihad until 2034. The deal, reportedly one of the most lucrative in sports history, reflects the club's faith in him and his central role in the coming decade or so.
