Man United boss Erik Ten Hag makes huge comment on fans ahead of Aston Villa clash

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has openly acknowledged the necessity for Man United fans to invigorate the atmosphere at Old Trafford, especially as the team looks to realign their trajectory this season.

As Manchester United prepares to welcome Aston Villa to their home ground on Boxing Day, the stakes are particularly high following a recent setback they suffered at a 2-0 defeat at West Ham.

This match will be the team's first appearance after the revelation that Sir Jim Ratcliffe is poised to acquire a significant stake in the club. With the team experiencing their 13th defeat in 26 matches this season, Man United definitely need a boost. Aston Villa are in excellent form, just one point off the summit and United boss has pleaded the fans to showcase their might at Old Trafford.

Ten Hag believes the supporters will galvanize the performance of the home team with their support and voices.

"I am sure they are very disappointed in us and we have to put things right and do things different," said the United boss Erik Ten Hag.

"We appreciate all the time they are supporting us. With all the setbacks this season, they are all the time behind us and we really appreciate that. Of course, we need any help but first of all I and the team have to do it. Villa is a different side in very good form, a very good team," added Ten Hag.

As the team gears up for the crucial fixture, Ten Hag remains hopeful that key players will return to bolster the squad. Raphael Varane was absent from the West Ham clash due to illness, but he might make his way back into the lineup. Additionally, there's optimism surrounding winger Amad Diallo, who is on the cusp of returning from a knee injury, having already resumed training.
