Bruno Fernandes is optimistic about Manchester United's transfer activities, believing they are equipping the team to compete with top clubs. This aligns with his goals before renewing his contract at Old Trafford. Fernandes, the team's captain and key player, committed his future to United last week, ahead of the new Premier League season.
Despite finishing eighth last season, their lowest in the Premier League era, Erik ten Hag's squad did secure the FA Cup by defeating Manchester City in the final. However, they struggled to consistently challenge their top-tier rivals. Fernandes needed assurance of improvement to stay content in Manchester.

United's recent signings include Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, and Noussair Mazraoui. Zirkzee made an immediate impact by scoring a dramatic winner on his debut against Fulham on Friday, giving United a victorious start to the new campaign.
Fernandes expressed his thoughts to MUTV: "The club knew that I want to compete with the best teams. They knew that we needed to improve the team. I think we're doing that."
Fernandes emphasised he didn't need promises of winning the league but wanted a competitive team capable of challenging for silverware throughout the season. He stated: "Obviously, I said to them: 'I don't need you to promise me that we're going to win the league'. No-one can promise that."
"But at least that we will have a team to compete and be competitive through the season, to try to achieve silverware and to compete at the highest levels," he added.
The midfielder highlighted his desire for the club's progress as a key factor in his decision to stay. "It was not even demands, but the things that I wanted to see: the club going forward, so I could see a future on that," Fernandes explained.
"To be honest, I look now and I see that the club is making an effort for that," he concluded.
United's efforts in strengthening their squad appear promising for Fernandes and fans alike as they aim for a more competitive season ahead.
