Man Utd Carrick Permanent Boss Would Delight Squad, Says Amad Diallo

Amad Diallo believes the Manchester United dressing room would welcome Michael Carrick staying as permanent manager after this season. Carrick has already led United back into the Champions League and moved the team to third place in the Premier League, with matches against Sunderland, Nottingham Forest and Brighton still to come.

Carrick stepped in as interim head coach on 13 January, replacing Ruben Amorim, and has transformed United’s domestic form. Under Carrick, United have won 10 of 14 Premier League fixtures and collected 32 points, four more than any other side in that period, placing strong focus on a long-term appointment.

Man Utd: Carrick stay would please squad

Amad made clear that players do not control managerial decisions, yet the support for Carrick is obvious inside the squad. "Honestly, it's not the player who decides who is going to stay here next season, but what I can say [is] everyone is happy to have him as manager," Amad toldSky Sports. "Everyone is with him."

Behind the scenes, Manchester United are weighing options for the role beyond the current campaign. Carrick is under contract only until the season’s end, while Andoni Iraola, who is expected to depart Bournemouth, has been reported as the main rival candidate for the position as discussions over next season continue.

For Amad, Carrick’s influence is measured most in team spirit and attitude rather than tactics alone. "He's that manager who has a good relationship with every player, so we are really happy to have him as manager and, yeah, we will be happy if we have him next season as manager." Amad highlighted a more united dressing room, where errors are shared and players are urged to react positively and keep attacking.

Amad credited Carrick and the coaching staff with driving that mentality, saying their energy has helped the squad feel closer and more resilient after setbacks. As United chase a strong finish in the remaining league fixtures, the players’ clear backing leaves club decision-makers to decide whether Carrick’s interim spell becomes a full-time assignment.
