Bruno Fernandes expressed disappointment over Manchester United's lack of finishing touch after their 0-0 draw with Manchester City. The derby at Old Trafford lacked excitement, with City missing a chance to re-enter the Premier League's top four. Both teams struggled to create clear opportunities, as United had 0.92 expected goals and City only 0.49.
Fernandes shared his thoughts with Sky Sports, stating, "Happy with the performance, but not the result we want to win games, we need points in the league, we're aware of that." He acknowledged United's slight advantage in creating chances but lamented their inability to convert them into goals.

The match saw United substitute Joshua Zirkzee come closest to scoring, only for Ederson to make a crucial save. Despite this, Fernandes believed United showed more threat and created more opportunities than their rivals. He emphasised the need for patience against City and praised his team's organisation.
Fernandes noted that while United's defensive structure and pressing were commendable, they sometimes falter when they perceive themselves as superior. He stressed the importance of maintaining effort throughout the season and beyond.
Since Ruben Amorim took charge of United, only Leicester City (12) have failed to score in more Premier League matches than United (eight). Despite having 29 touches in City's penalty area and eight shots from inside the box, United managed just one significant chance.
Fernandes remarked on the need for consistency: "If we carry on doing what we did today, with scoring goals, we will be close." He cautioned against complacency, highlighting the importance of sustaining their current level of play.
The derby also marked Kevin De Bruyne's final appearance in a Manchester derby for City. The Belgian midfielder confirmed he would leave at season's end. Fernandes praised De Bruyne's impact on the Premier League and City's success over the past decade.
"He made the Premier League better," Fernandes said about De Bruyne. "City have won many trophies in this period. It is also because of Kevin De Bruyne." He acknowledged De Bruyne's world-class talent and contributions to football history.
Fernandes concluded by recognising De Bruyne as a pleasure to watch and compete against. He believes De Bruyne will remain a significant figure in both Manchester City's and Premier League history.
