Manchester United Finalises Deal To Sign Matheus Cunha From Wolves For £62.5 Million

Manchester United has confirmed the signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves for £62.5 million. The Brazilian forward is expected to enhance United's attacking options after a disappointing season.

Manchester United have confirmed they have reached an agreement with Wolves to acquire Matheus Cunha. The Brazilian forward is set to be the first addition for Ruben Amorim in this transfer window. Reports suggest that the club activated a £62.5 million release clause to secure his services.

Cunha will sign a five-year deal with Manchester United, including an option for an additional year. The completion of the transfer depends on visa and registration processes. The deal is expected to finalise later this month after Cunha returns from international duty. Over the weekend, he was in Manchester for a medical examination.

Man Utd Completes Signing of Cunha from Wolves

In February, Cunha extended his contract with Wolves, where he spent two-and-a-half years and played 92 matches across all competitions. During the 2024-25 season, the 26-year-old made 33 appearances in the Premier League, scoring a team-high 15 goals.

Additionally, Cunha provided six assists, ranking second among his teammates. He created 57 chances, more than any other player on his team. His shooting statistics were impressive as well, with 110 shots taken and 44 on target, surpassing any Manchester United player's numbers.

Manchester United are aiming to improve after finishing 15th in their worst-ever Premier League season. They managed only 44 goals in 38 league matches. Only Everton (42), Ipswich Town (36), Leicester City (33), and Southampton (26) scored fewer goals during that campaign.

The addition of Cunha is seen as a step towards bolstering their attacking options and improving their overall performance in upcoming seasons.
