Manchester United have secured Manuel Ugarte on a five-year contract, with an option for an additional year. The Uruguayan midfielder joined from Paris Saint-Germain in a deal valued at up to £50.5 million. Ugarte has been linked with United throughout the transfer window, and the deal was finalised on transfer deadline day, though he won't be available for the match against Liverpool.
Scott McTominay has left Manchester United after 22 years, moving to Napoli in a transfer worth £30.5 million. McTominay joined United's academy at age five and made his first-team debut in May 2017. Over his career at United, he played 255 matches, scoring 29 goals and providing eight assists. His most prolific season was last term, where he netted 10 goals.

In his farewell message to fans, McTominay expressed gratitude: "I've absolutely loved it, and I'm very, very grateful for the football club. I'm ready for a new challenge, and I’m ready to go and embrace it and take it by storm. I want to see Manchester United win; I want to see us do really, really well, and I'll be watching as well. Thank you for having me; I have enjoyed every minute."
Last season in Ligue 1, Ugarte led PSG players with the most interceptions (40) and contested the most duels (302), winning 160 of them. Reflecting on his move to Manchester United, Ugarte said: "It is an incredible feeling to join a club of this magnitude; one that is admired all around the world." He added that the project discussed with him by the club's leadership is "extremely exciting" and aligns with his ambition.
"Manchester United is an ambitious club, and I am an ambitious player," Ugarte continued. "I'm someone who is so determined to succeed; I will sacrifice and give everything for my team-mates. Together we will fight to win trophies and reach the level where this club needs to be."
Napolis' acquisition spree continued with Billy Gilmour from Brighton joining them on a five-year contract worth an initial £12 million. Antonio Conte, who managed Chelsea before Gilmour’s debut there, advocated for this move.
The addition of Gilmour strengthens Napoli’s midfield options alongside McTominay. Both players are also teammates in Scotland’s national team.
Manchester United fans will be eager to see how Ugarte integrates into their squad while keeping an eye on McTominay’s progress in Italy.
