Pep Guardiola Admits PSG Were Superior Following Manchester City's 4-2 Defeat

After a disappointing 4-2 loss to Paris Saint-Germain, Pep Guardiola acknowledged that the better team won. Manchester City now faces a crucial match against Club Brugge to secure their place in the Champions League knockout stage.

Manchester City faced a setback in the Champions League after losing 4-2 to Paris Saint-Germain. Despite taking an early lead with goals from Jack Grealish and Erling Haaland, City faltered as PSG's Ousmane Dembele, Bradley Barcola, Joao Neves, and Goncalo Ramos scored. This defeat dropped City to 25th in the standings, leaving their qualification hopes uncertain.

Pep Guardiola acknowledged PSG's superiority, stating they were quicker and more effective. "We had our moments and they had their moments, but they were better," he told TNT Sports. He emphasised that PSG dominated possession and attacked more effectively, making it difficult for City to maintain control.

Guardiola Concedes PSG's Superiority Over City

City now faces a crucial match against Club Brugge at home. A win is essential for them to advance to the knockout stage play-offs. Reflecting on this situation, Guardiola remarked, "It could happen. We will see. If we don't win [against Brugge] we don't deserve it." He stressed the importance of securing enough points in challenging away games.

Guardiola expressed frustration during the match, particularly with City's midfield performance. The absence of Ballon d'Or winner Rodri was keenly felt. "In football, everything happens in the middle," he noted. Guardiola highlighted that controlling the midfield is crucial for success and promised to give their all in the upcoming home game.

The loss against PSG has put Manchester City's Champions League journey at risk. They must overcome Club Brugge to keep their hopes alive. Guardiola remains hopeful but realistic about their chances, acknowledging that failure to win would mean they don't deserve progression.
