Manchester City Defender Rebecca Knaak Commits To Two-Year Contract Extension Until 2028

Rebecca Knaak has signed a two-year contract extension with Manchester City, committing her future to the club until 2028. The defender has made significant contributions this season and expressed her happiness in continuing at the club she loves.

Manchester City, the current leaders of the Women's Super League, have secured a new two-year contract extension with centre-back Rebecca Knaak. Initially joining from Rosengard in January on a one-and-a-half-year deal, Knaak has played 16 matches for City. Her performance includes five goals, three of which were against Manchester United, earning her international recognition.

Knaak made her senior debut for Germany in February and has since earned 11 caps. Her contributions helped Germany reach the Euro 2025 semi-finals, where they were narrowly defeated by Spain in extra time. Despite limited appearances this season under new head coach Andree Jeglertz, Knaak has committed to Manchester City until 2028.

Knaak Signs Two-Year Extension with City

Speaking on the club's website, Knaak expressed her joy about staying with Manchester City: "I'm really happy to stay here." She emphasised her love for the club and her desire to achieve success with them. "It's the club I love and the club I want to be successful at," she added.

Knaak further shared her personal connection to the team: "Personally, I have so much unfinished business to be done, and I love this football club. It feels like home to me now, and I feel this is where I belong and I'm meant to be."

Manchester City's next challenge in the WSL is against Aston Villa on Sunday. The team has been impressive this season with nine victories out of ten matches. They currently lead by six points over defending champions Chelsea.

Knaak's commitment adds strength to City's defence as they aim for continued success in the league. Her experience and skills will be crucial as they face upcoming challenges and strive for more victories.
