Manchester City enter pursuit for Juventus target Emre Can

According to reports, Manchester City have joined the pursuit of some top clubs to sign Liverpool's Emre Can.

Emre Can runs out of contract this summer at Anfield.

Bengaluru, February 22: Looks like Pep Guardiola is still not done improving his squad strength or his squad depth. Recent reports from England confirm that runaway Premier League leaders Manchester City have joined the pursuit of some top clubs to sign Liverpool's Emre Can. The World Cup winning midfielder was almost confirmed of joining Juventus in the January transfer window, but the deal couldn't go through.

Emre Can runs out of contract this summer at Anfield. And with football regulations that allow teams to make pre-contract agreements with players in their final 6 months of contract, Can can be lured away from the Reds. However, his manager and compatriot Jurgen Klopp is keen to hold on to the midfielder amidst heavy interest from European giants. The fact that the German is a free agent makes him an exciting prospect this summer, added with his age at just 24 years.

According to Italian outlet Tuttosport, Real Madrid would like to take Can to the Bernabeu and so will Pep Guardiola at the Etihad. The midfielder would be available on a free transfer and Los Blancos are rumoured to be planning a major shake-up of their squad in the summer. Although there's heavy interest from these teams, Can maintains that his future is uncertain. It could well be that he might sign an extension with the Reds should they promise him a Champions League spot and by making some good summer signings.

The midfielder has been a vital part of Liverpool's impressive performances this season, playing 32 games in all competitions and scoring five goals.
