Manchester City Faces Injury Setback As Ruben Dias Is Ruled Out For Three To Four Weeks

Ruben Dias will be sidelined for three to four weeks due to a muscle injury sustained during the match against Manchester United. This absence adds to Manchester City's ongoing injury challenges as they approach crucial fixtures.

Manchester City faces another setback as Pep Guardiola confirmed Ruben Dias will be sidelined for three to four weeks due to a muscle injury. The defender sustained the injury during their 2-1 loss to Manchester United but managed to complete the match. Dias has already missed seven games this season because of a calf issue and has appeared in 13 Premier League matches, helping City secure three clean sheets.

The injury list for the reigning champions is growing, with Oscar Bobb, Nathan Ake, Manuel Akanji, and Rodri absent from the squad during the Manchester derby. Jeremy Doku, Jack Grealish, Phil Foden, and John Stones have also faced time out due to injuries. Ederson's availability is uncertain for their upcoming match against Aston Villa on Saturday.

Despite these challenges, Guardiola maintained a positive outlook in his recent press conference. This was a noticeable shift from his more sombre demeanour following their recent defeat. City has experienced eight losses in their last 11 matches across all competitions, matching the number of losses they had in their previous 106 games combined.

Reflecting on recent performances, Guardiola expressed his emotions candidly after their latest defeat. "We'd just finished a game that we lost in the circumstances, and I was not happy," he stated. He emphasised honesty about his team's feelings and acknowledged their struggles in recent Premier League games without a win.

Guardiola remains optimistic despite City's current form. "We fell down six times [number of Premier League games without a win], we have to stand up seven," he remarked. He stressed there is no alternative but to keep pushing forward.

As City navigates through these challenges, they aim to regain momentum while managing player fitness carefully. The team hopes for Dias' swift recovery as they prepare for crucial fixtures ahead.
