Manchester City join hunt for Thomas Lemar

London, March 10: Manchester City are reportedly readying up a massive bid to rival other Premier League sides like Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool in the summer transfer window to land Monaco sensation Thomas Lemar.

Pep Guardiola tried to land attacker Riyad Mahrez and Alexis Sanchez in the winter window in a bid to strengthen their attacking unit further, however, he failed.

Now as per various reports, the Manchester giant along with Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred have lined up to bid for Lemar, who reportedly is priced around £90million by the French side.

Lemar has been drawing interest from various suitors since last year and at a point of time in the Summer, it was believed that the player was on his way to Anfield in a big money move whereas Chelsea were also in the hunt.

However, the all the talks collapsed but the speculation again regenerated in the winter window when in a last-ditch attempt, Arsenal tried to lure the player to Emirates as a replacement for Alexis Sanchez, only to see the talks falter.

Monaco's vice-president later openly made a declaration that the player won't be sold at any cost this year which all but confirmed their stance on the player.

However, reports now claim, Lemar, whose contract runs down till 2020, has rejected a new contract proposal from the defending Ligue 1 champions paving the way for a big money move to the Premier League at the end of the season. English giants Manchester City are weighing up their sleeve to land the player in the summer.

Rivals Liverpool are also said to be accelerating to see an agreement in principle over Lemar ahead of City, however, it is believed that no formal talks between the parties have occurred yet. In the meantime, City in an attempt to be the frontrunners have prepared a bid of £90m for the player.

Lemar has established himself as one of the brightest prospects in World football last season when he scored 14 goals and provided 17 assists to help his team win the first Ligue 1 title in the last 17 years and taking them to the Champions League semi-finals.

The player although has been struggling this season with consistent injury issues and struggling to maintain the same form. However, he still has managed to register three goals and eight assists in 27 matches in all competitions.
