After making history by winning the English Premier League for the fourth time in a row in the last season, Manchester City are ready to face the fresh challenges of the upcoming new season. But prior to that, a trip to the USA has been planned for City for the pre-season friendlies, starting from July 23.

Last season Man City travelled to Asia (Japan and South Korea) for the pre-season matches but for this season, on March 19, 2024, they announced that they will go to the United States to play against some of the top sides of European football. The last time City had a tour of the USA was in 2022-23, ahead of their historic treble-winning season. In that case, pre-season in the USA could be referred to as a lucky charm by the Cityzens.

When Will the City’s Pre-Season Be Held and Who Will Be the Opponents?

According to the reports, this year the tour will be longer than usual as the EPL champions have planned to stay there for around two and half weeks, from late July to early August, playing four matches in the meantime.

City will play against three different teams from three different leagues and lastly, against their EPL rival Chelsea. All the matches will be held at different locations. Their first match will be against the champion of Scottish Premiership side Celtic. The next two matches will be against AC Milan and Barcelona, the two runners-up of Serie A and La Liga respectively. With the growing global presence of the City Football Group, they can expect a rise in the demand for tickets for the matches than the previous seasons.

Few key players will be missing from the City’s travelling squad, as they will be at an extended rest after the physically and mentally demanding Euro 2024. City’s latest recruitment of Brazilian youngster Savio will also miss the pre-season matches. Pep Guardiola’s side will play their first match of the 2024-25 season against their local rival Manchester United on August 10 in the Community Shield final.
