Bengaluru, December 13: Manchester City defender Danilo is wanted by old club Porto on loan for the remainder of the season.
The Brazilian full-back is worried about his spot in the Brazil squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia due to lack of first-team action at club level and his former club are ready to help him out as they want him back on loan.
Danilo is understood to be considering his future at the Etihad and would be interested in leaving when the window opens next month. He has started only 13 games this season in all competitions and is behind Kyle Walker in the pecking order at his favoured right-back spot.
Danilo spent three years with Porto before joining Real Madrid in 2015, and the Portuguese giants are interested in taking him back.
The 26-year-old was assured when joining from Madrid for £26.5m last summer he would be more involved, but that has not been in case at all which has made him furious.
Manchester City and Porto share a very good relationship because of transfers in the past, and it is thought a loan deal could be struck with the option to buy next year.
An Etihad source said: “Danilo has not had a great time here. He cannot get into the first-team and is only making the odd appearance.
“He is concerned it is harming his chances of playing at next summer’s World Cup finals. It is affecting his performances when he does play.
“His old club Porto are taking a look. We have good relations with them after they sold us Eliaquim Mangala and Fernando.
“His early form doesn’t bode well but he is highly thought of in Porto and we know that they are interested to take him back.”
The ex-Santos ace has played just seven times in the Premier League this season, as City boast an 11-point lead at the top of the table.
