Manchester United Secures 2-1 Victory Over Paris Saint-Germain In Women's Champions League Match

Manchester United continued their flawless run in the Women's Champions League by securing a 2-1 victory over Paris Saint-Germain at Old Trafford. Marc Skinner's team, having already collected six points from two matches, aimed to emulate Barcelona and Lyon by winning their first three games. PSG, on the other hand, entered the match with two defeats.

PSG's Joe Echegini almost scored early on, hitting the post in the second minute. United gradually found their rhythm, and after Hinata Miyazawa missed a shot, Melvine Malard put them ahead in the 31st minute. Malard outmuscled Griedge Mbock to reach Jayde Riviere's pass, then cut inside to score past former United goalkeeper Mary Earps.

PSG equalised with a remarkable goal just before halftime. Olga Carmona struck from 25 yards out, finding the top-right corner. Early in the second half, PSG hit the post again when Safia Middleton-Patel tipped Anais Ebayilin's shot onto the upright. United capitalised on this let-off in the 58th minute when Fridolina Rolfo headed home after a well-executed move involving Jess Park.

The visitors sought another equaliser but were unsuccessful, leaving them 16th in the standings. They are now three points away from reaching the qualification threshold of 12th place.

United have won all three of their Women's Champions League matches so far, making them unique in maintaining a perfect record after playing that many games. Despite this success, Skinner's side had some luck on their side. They managed only 11 shots with an expected goals (xG) value of 0.69 compared to PSG's xG of 1.24 from 14 attempts.

However, United were more accurate with five shots on target against PSG's two. Former Red Devils goalkeeper Earps made three saves during her return to Old Trafford.

This victory highlights Manchester United's strong start in the competition as they aim for further success while PSG will need to regroup and push for better results in upcoming matches.
